oranges -n- limes…. (Orlando Family Photographer)

June 24, 2009 | Posted in families

Hmm, so…not really sure where to begin..lots to say about this shoot..and lots of images to share…just lots of lots…Anyway, I got a phone call from a friend of this client….whose family I shot last November..she had seen those images..loved them..and while she and her family were down on vacation this week..she wanted to get a shoot done..at that same location..with not only her family…but her extended family as well..20 people in all…8 adults..12 kids…ummm…Yikes..how would I ever pull this off.. We chatted about clothing..my wheels started turning…oranges…limes…soda….popsicles…I thought…prepared….and waited…

The day of the shoot..I have to tell you..it must have been record breaking heat that day..OhMyGosh…HOT does not even begin to describe it..you could barely breathe..the air was thick..and we were all sweating within minutes..people were popping in out of cars…waiting their turn to jump in front of the camera…Family shots..check…kid shots…check…the big group shot…check…now, onto the fun stuff…we popped open those sodas…pulled out the popsicles…threw oranges here and there…and just went with it..kinda a free for all…the kids had fun..the parents laughed..and I snapped…

It was the hottest…stickiest photo shoot I’ve ever done..but it was also one of the funnest…thanks you all, for being such great sports…for just going with me..and for allowing me to capture a moment for you…enjoy your peek.

Love it! You managed to turn lemons into lemonade…or in this case limeade. The heat has been unbearable up here in the panhandle of Florida, too. I’m sure the family is so excited about these fun memories you have created for them.

LOVE these photos! Great ideas with the sodas, pops and fruit! I love how everyone looks great. Would love to know what they told everyone to wear? How did they coordinate these outfits - they’re coordinated without matching. Did they say to wear earth tones? brown, green and white? or what?
    Love it, great photography!

Hi Megan, just found your blog through a photog friend… and wow! Beautiful, amazing, fun stuff here. I live in Idaho and would totally drive to Eugene if you did a mini-workshop while you were in Oregon (ironically my friend actually lives in Eugene…) Has anyone else expressed any interest in this? I know my friend and I would loooooove to come to a mini — even just an afternoon — workshop; mainly processing? Hey, I figured that it couldn’t hurt to ask! :-)
    cheers!
    Amber

Hi Megan, I just found your blog through a photog friend… and wow! beautiful, amazing, striking and fun images! I am floored!
I live in Idaho and would totally be down with driving to Eugene if you offered a mini-workshop while you were in Oregon. Ironically enough, my photo friend actually lives in Eugene. Have you had any other interest? I know both my friend and I would be thrilled to attend a mini — even just an afternoon — workshop! Particulary for processing tips, etc. Could we book a session and then use it to pick your brain for a couple of hours?? ;-) Anyway, I figured there was no harm in asking.

    Cheers!
    Amber

Megan - Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures! We waited anxiously to see how they would turn out after the “melting” started to occur. We just couldn’t imagine how they would look! They are fantastic and will be cherished by our families forever! Can’t wait to see the whole shoot. The picture of Nate looking over his glasses made my heart skip! You were wonderful to work with - thanks again - Love, Alicia

I am over the TOP!(scratch that-we ALL are) I have just about worn down my computer keys looking and then RE-looking at our photos! All I can say is THANK YOU…yet that seems inadequate. Can’t wait to see the whole slew of images you took! I was fearful-after practically feeling as though we would spontaneously combust that day in the heat…but you worked miracles! We all had a ball…the kids talked about it all week long. WHAT FUN. You were wonderful (&patient&creative&energetic, etc. etc.), the images/colors are fantastic, the props were priceless AND you make me WANT TO BE YOU when I grow up! (ha ha) BRAVO—this is the reason we chose you…plenty of fun, fresh and funky with all of the creativity, quality anyone could ever want. We are thrilled you were able to share your gift with us. It was not only a shoot…but an unforgettable MEMORY for our family.

I have looked at your photos over and over. I look at the catchlights and see sky…but not you… This looks like natural light, but it is so bright and crisp and crunchy…..what are you shooting with? And I am not downplaying your expertise at all to choice of equipment. I just want this. Badly.
